Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center hosted a flag raising ceremony on January 8th.  Those in attendance were 24 facility residents whom are Veterans, 15 family members and spouses, Riverside Police and Fire Departments, Mayor Kathy Rose and VFW Post 5606 were in attendance.  The VFW Post donated the flag for service.  Mayor Rose spoke to the Veterans and conveyed to them her appreciation for their services and protecting our freedoms.  Mayor Rose further mentioned she had a family member that served and Veterans hold a special place in her heart.  She was please to have been apart of the ceremony. 

God Bless America was enjoyed by all in attendance and VFW Post representative lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.  A member of the Riverside Police and Fire Department performed the flag raising. 

Interim Executive Director, Carleton Beatty, asked for a moment of silence for those that ahve lost their lives and for those that are currently serving in the USA and foreign soil.  Mr. Beatty himself is a Navy Veteran of 6 years and a former Kansas City Police Officer.  

Punch and cookies were enjoyed by all after.
